My motto in life has always been, “you only live once.” It’s important to strike a balance between the delicious indulgences we all crave and the healthy lifestyle choices that keep us feeling good both inside and out. But I also believe you should treat yourself, at least every once in a while! I never shy away from enjoying a homemade mint-chip ice-cream cone, a slice of warm chocolate cake, or an extra serving of my grandmother’s famous hot chicken salad casserole as long as I’m generally eating and feeling healthy. Staying in good health will hopefully lead to a long and happy life, but allowing yourself that savory dish or rich dessert from time to time will lead to an even happier one!
Now a little bit about me…
I grew up in North Carolina (go Tar Heels) and moved to New York City after college to pursue a career in consulting. I eventually moved into finance, but I always knew that deep down my passion was food. In 2011 I met my husband, Chris, in New York (by chance in the cab line at JFK airport), and thanks to him and my family and friends, I decided to leave banking and pursue my culinary dreams. A few years ago, I was in a serious car accident and since then, I have taken a different perspective on many aspects of my life. My motto has never felt so powerful because truly, you only live once!
My recipes are all from the heart – mostly healthy, but sometimes indulgent! They range from fresh and seasonal entrees to decadent chocolate desserts. Join me on this adventure as I share what I love to do. I hope you enjoy. Now let’s eat!
